Some relevant information:

 

1. Operational Research Society of India Chennai chapter was resurrected on 4th Feb 2002, with Professor T. R. Natesan as President of the chapter.
   
   
2. The International Conference on Operations Research for Development (ICORD 2002) was held during December 27-30, 2002 at Anna University, Chennai, under the leadership of Professor T.R.Natesan.
   
   
3. A special volume of Annals of Operation Research, Volume 143 (2006) was published by Springer, with the selected papers presented in the conference.
   
   
4. Professor T.R.Natesan passed away on November 12, 2005 in a tragic road accident. ORSI Chennai chapter has created an endowment on the name of Professor Natesan.
   
   
5. The first endowment lecture was delivered on 4th January 2006 by Professor Paolo Toth, President of IFORS, Italy. His lecture was on Combinatorial Optimization and Applications, with specific reference to Heuristic Algorithms for the Set Covering Problem as well as applications to Railways / Airlines Crew Planning and Scheduling.
   
   
6. The second endowment lecture was delivered by Prof. M. Rammohan Rao, Dean, Indian School of Business, Hyderabad on 14th February 2007. The title of his lecture was on “Concave Cost Location, Production Planning and Distribution Problems: An overview”.
   
   
7. The third endowment lecture was delivered by Dr. P. Balsubramanian, Sr Vice-President, Infosys Technologies Ltd., Bangalore on 6th February 2008. His presentation was on ”Opportunities for Operations Research Professionals in the Internet Era”.
   
   
8. The fourth endowment lecture was delivered by Professor Krishnaswamy Srihari of State University of New York Binghamton on 9th March 2009. His presentation was on “Healthcare Systems Engineering: IE and OR perspective”.
   
   
9. The fifth endowment lecture was delivered by Prof Y Narahari of the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore on 6th May 2010. His presentation was on the topic “Games, Auctions, and Market Design”.
   
   
10. The Sixth endowment lecture was delivered by Prof A. Ravindran of the Pennsylvania State University, USA, on 23rd November 2010. His presentation was on the topic "Global Sourcing and Vendor Risk Management in Supply Chains".
    
    
11. The Seventh endowment lecture was delivered by Professor Rainer Leisten, Chair Professor of Business Administration and Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany, on 21st March 2012. His presentation was on the topic " ;Uniformity in (Flow shop) Machine scheduling – An alternative objective function".
